Does your worksite seem too small? The solution is an mb crusher bucket!

24-07-2024

When space on the worksite is extremely limited – or practically nonexistent – costs and delays can skyrocket. This was the case for one of our clients in Haute-Savoie a French county.  who broke convention and found an ingenious solution to manage the demolition waste from a barn.

THE SITE

THE SITE

After a severe fire, the interior walls of a barn made of concrete blocks had to be demolished. The debris then needed to be converted into a base layer for constructing access roads to the site.

Located in a small mountain village the only roads leading to the property were narrow and winding, and the courtyard was almost non-existent. There was just enough space for a mini loader and a small truck, nothing more. The material had to be reduced to about 4 cm.

THE CHALLENGES OF LIMITED SPACE

THE CHALLENGES OF LIMITED SPACE

Imagine: the only roads to the property are narrow and winding. The courtyard is almost non-existent. There’s no room for a large machine or a traditional crushing plant. What to do? The options are limited to:

1. Loading the material onto a truck and take it to a recycling centre – How many trips? How much money? How much time? At what environmental cost? Not a good idea in a place that should be a natural paradise.

2. Rent a small mobile crushing machine – Still needing a machine for loading and reloading, which means more time and more money.

Does your worksite seem too small? The solution is an mb crusher bucket!

Then came the idea: install an MB Crusher bucket on the skid steere already on site. A brilliant idea – inspired by Gyro Gearloose – that allowed the material to be directed into the tube positioned right above the crusher bucket's mouth.

The material was crushed directly onto a small conveyor that transported it straight into the small truck’s bin.

PUSHING BOUNDARIES

This site had many challenges: few roads to access it, limited space, material to be removed from the top of the barn, surrounding homes, and the need to limit pollution. Problems were overcome by installing the crusher bucket on the Bobcat already on site to:

  • Recycle the material independently;
  • Work within the scheduled timeframe even in a confined space;
  • Control noise and dust;
  • Have new material ready for use.
